I agree, choosing web hosting who gave you large space and bandwith to start with is comfy, you never know how big your website gonna be, or how many visitor you gonna have later.

But, do you know that there is actually some hosting service who offer you to pay their service depend on how much of their resources are being used?

Before I actually shifted to self-hosted wordpress (I started my blog with Google's Blogger at first), I considered purchasing a webhosting package that gives you a small bit of storage space and an even smaller bit of bandwidth. But after searching the web for weeks, I realised that only small scale hsoting companies offer such services, and their charges are also higher (as in cost per unit of storage or bandwidth). So I made the final decision to use a cheaper, huge storage and bandwdith webhosting package. Larger companies usually have more idle resources, thus their ability to offer huge bandwidths to their customers :) it isn't a bad thing afterall!
