Yesterday i posted about Utopia web based online game. Mumbling about what is utopia, and why i don’t play utopia anymore.

Actually i’m not totally quit from online gaming. At the moment, i am playing another game called Erepublik, online game a bit like Utopia, but with far simple interface and little complexity. The game offers you to be a citizen in a country of your choice, you can play and socializing and build your country with other fellow mate from same country.

The basic reasons why i play Erepublik simply because i like playing online game. Erepublik is simple and also doesn’t need me to active as much as other games in the forum etc, but on the other side i still can contribute my best for the Nation/group i am in. I might review it more next time.

If Utopia and Erepublik is not interesting enough for you, you might wanna try cybernations, unlike utopia where the game reset every few moths, cybernations run since years ago and haven’t stopped till now. They have their own system that made the game attractive in its own style.

I registered for cybernations before i found erepublik. A day after registering, i was shocked, to find 20 message came into my inbox, offering me to join their Alliance. Each Alliace come with their own term.

They really act fast and it surprised me. I did follow up their offer and trying to register, but registering wasn’t so easy, many term and conditions are given. The test was like i am going for the army, they ask about my loyalty, why i played the game, and some game related questions, lol.

Soon i delete the account, i just can’t bear with it. The game is so complex, they got more serious player involved, more alliance things and i can see in the future, they’re going to ask more of me.

(PS to see their seriousness for the game, you can find their ‘recruitment video in youtube.com‘, created beautifully, what a wonderfull work!!)

I also found the game gonna ask for more time then Utopia. The learning curve itself is very step, more and more of time had to be invested to just understand the basic of the game. All of that reasons made me i resign and delete my account.

Utopia is still running until now, it’s tempting to play again, especially if i though the fun and friendship i got there. But no, i have think about it, i am not going back to play, and i don’t have that much time to spare. I already got family and work to manage which consume enough of my time already.

My personal notes, online game are fun and sometimes could end on addiction. I myself was an addict too. Spent half an hour to few more hours a day, socializing with fellow team mates in the forum, talking about the game and the strategy. Waking up in the middle of the night and other time wasting behavior. Beside a commitment to be active in the game. I think everybody should also make a target and limit how many hours a day to spend on online gaming.

I quit playing Utopia at the right moment, it was when i am going to work on my thesis which need all of my attention at that moment.

Everybody got and have to had their own priority in life, it could be their family, their work, their blog , their hobbies, playing game, etc. For me there is many things in real live more important than just a game, my priority is God, family and work.

When something not so important start taking your precious things in live, that no so important thing might worth to live without, before it become one of your precious things and you can’t live without.

What you have just read is just my personal opinion, no offense or whatsoever related to anybody or any company meant.

Do you play online game? I did play a lot and still am.

Eight years ago, when i was still in college and online game still few, I was a fans of Utopia online web-based game. I knew the game from some of friends who already played the game for few rounds. I played the game for 8 rounds, 2-3 of the game was a consecuetive round play (each round run for 3-4months).

Utopia, what’s the game like?

The game made by Mehul Patel from swirve.com. Nobody play utopia without knowing his name, he is the creator and admin of the game.

The game set in medieval background. Inspired by Tolkien’s fantasy world, where many creatures like Orc, Dwarves and Elves lives. You are given a province to manage, it is located in a kingdom consist of 25 other provinces as your team mate. Mainly the game is about building your province to be the best in Utopian world. Biggest in land size, the most powerfull in the matter of networth and army.

To be the biggest there are several ways, you can do in un-attractive way, explore for more land and the attractive way, of course by attacking somebody and grab their land.

Every province has a right to choice the monarch who will decide some important decision, ex : war, peace, etc. Ultimatelly monarch can summon a dragon to wreak havoc on other’s kingdom!! The dragon itself doesn’t come cheap, provinces have to gather hefty sum of money to pay for the dragon. That is why everybody has to contribute and play as a team. Read the rest of this entry »
